2022 Lincoln Aviator
Lincoln's lineup includes several luxury SUV options, and each comes well-equipped with high-end features. The Aviator is an appealing option, offering a spacious cabin with three rows of seating.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2022 Lincoln Aviator is a three-row midsize SUV that comes in five trim levels. These include Standard, Reserve, Black Label, Grand Touring, and Grand Touring Black Label. From the outside, the base Standard trim showcases LED headlights, a power-operated liftgate, 19-inch alloy wheels, and roof rails. The Reserve trim tacks on larger 20-inch wheels and a few exterior flourishes. An adaptive suspension is optional and requires an upgrade to 22-inch wheels or all-wheel drive.
With the Black Level trim, upgrades include 22-inch wheels, turn-adaptive headlights, heated windshield wipers, and soft-close doors. The Grand Touring shares its features with the Reserve trim, while the top Black Label Grand Touring trim has nearly every option as standard.
Engine (Power)
With the lower three trim levels, a 3.0-liter V-6 engine comes standard. It produces 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. The upper two trims include a hybrid version of the V-6 engine, and it's specially tuned to put out 494 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque. Both powertrains work with a 10-speed automatic transmission. With the gas-powered engine, rear-wheel drive comes standard. The upper two trims include Lincoln's all-wheel-drive system, which is also available as an option on the other trims.
Performance
With its capable V-6 engine, the Aviator is fairly quick, particularly for a vehicle of its size. In speed testing, a model equipped with the hybrid engine went from zero to 60 mph in just 5.9 seconds. Other appealing performance elements of this SUV include its responsive brake system and impressive power. If you want a more comfortable ride, consider adding the adaptive suspension. When equipped with the hybrid powertrain, the EPA fuel economy estimates come in at 54 MPGe in the city and 58 MPGe on the highway.
Interior
The cabin of the 2022 Aviator really shines, offering three spacious rows and plenty of premium comfort and convenience features. On the comfort side, the base model includes power-adjustable and heated front seats, tri-zone automatic climate control, and cloth upholstery. This model also includes a 10.1-inch touch screen, an onboard Wi-Fi hot spot, and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay smartphone integration.
Upgrades in the Reserve trim include quad-zone automatic climate control, premium leather upholstery, a power-adjustable steering wheel, and ambient interior lighting. Available options for this model are bundled into packages. The Elements Package Plus includes a heated steering wheel and heated and ventilated front- and second-row seats, while the Luxury package comes with a premium 28-speaker audio system and rear-door sunshades. The upper two trims include most of these features as standard.
Safety Features
Every Aviator includes anti-lock brakes, stability and traction control, air bags throughout the three rows of seating, and a rearview camera. Lincoln also includes forward-collision mitigation, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-keeping assist as standard. The Lincoln Co-Pilot360 1.5 Plus package bundles adaptive cruise control, an advanced lane-keeping assist system, evasive steering assist, and an automated parking system.
