2023 Ford Bronco Sport
The Bronco Sport is based on the Escape and it has a more fascinating interior and a rugged appearance. Copper-colored trim on the doors, comfortable, zippered storage pockets on the rears of the front seats, and a leather steering wheel with a chrome bucking bronco logo all contribute to the interior's rugged, outdoorsy vibe.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The base, Big Bend, Outer Banks, and Badlands are the four trim levels available for the new 2022 Bronco Sport.
Many consumers choose the Bronco Sport's base trim because it is a no-frills SUV. LED headlights with LED day running lights, roof rack side rails, and active grille shutters are all included as standard equipment on the base model. The front features a blacked-out Bronco emblem and a blacked-out grille.
Engine (Power)
The Bronco Sport is built on the same chassis as the small Escape crossover, and it comes standard with all-wheel drive in every trim. The base engine produces 181 horsepower and is a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder, but a 245-horsepower turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder is also available.
These engines come with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, but the more powerful engine adds steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters and enhanced cooling features. The Bronco Sport has a towing capacity of 2,000 to 2,200 pounds.
Performance
The Badlands trim level comes with various unique features, such as a twin-clutch rear-drive system with a mechanical lock. It also comes with all-terrain tires on 17-inch wheels, a 1-inch suspension raise for increased wheelbase, and heftier shock absorbers.
According to the EPA, the three-cylinder Bronco Sport gets 25 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. If you upgrade to the more powerful four-cylinder model, these values drop to 21 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.
Interior
The Bronco Sport has a stylish appearance and a long list of standard features inside. Despite its small cab, it also boasts a surprising capacity and a few clever features. The Bronco features a more upright seating position and plenty of rear-seat legroom. A slide-out table that serves as a workspace, a 400-watt power converter, and LED lights incorporated into the interior of the rear gate that offers overhead illumination are also available options for the cargo hold.
The Badlands trim has washable, soft rubber flooring and easy-to-clean fabric. An 8.0-inch touch screen supports the Ford Sync 3 software in every Bronco Sport. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. SiriusXM satellite radio and a B&O audio system can be fitted at an additional cost. Besides touch-sensitive controls and voice commands, the infotainment interface can be operated with buttons and a volume and tuning knob.
Safety Features
The Bronco Sport comes complete with forward-collision detection and automated emergency braking, among other features. Its outstanding qualities include a standard blind-spot checking and rear cross-traffic notification, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go technology, a standard lane-keeping assistant, and lane-departure warning. Instantaneous emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and a blind-spot monitor with cross-traffic alert are standard on every Bronco Sport.
